         Mahesh Elkunchwar is renowned writer of Marathi cinema; there are more than 20 plays n his name. He has born on 9th October 1939. He born at Vidarbha region in Maharashtra especially in Wada culture, we can see its influence in his drama also. This play Wada chirebandi is talk about the fall of Wada culture and also the dark side industrialism and its effect in small towns.
     Play written 35 year ago but it is still remain relevant to the contemporary society. This play is about the Wada culture of Maharashtra.

            The play begins after 5days of death of the Venktesh. The Deshpande family lived in small village in Vidarbha, they are Bhramhin.  The whole play is about the hypocrisy of caste system and the effect of industries and urban culture in village. There are symbols in the play which are Tractor and old palanquin lies in the house. The tractor is in very entry of the house and the palanquin is lies in veranda of the house, both are  not in working condition. This is shows the uselessness of both the culture. The tractor is stands for urban and the palanquin is for rural.
